Privacy Policy

Clipper is built for privacy. Your recordings, notes, and transcripts stay on your Mac. This policy explains what data Clipper handles and how.

Overview

Clipper is a macOS application developed by Offlyn AI ("we", "us"). This privacy policy describes how Clipper handles information when you use the app.

Clipper does not require an account. We do not collect, store, or process your personal content on our servers. All core functionality — recording, transcription, summarization, and search — runs on your Mac.

Data stored locally

Clipper stores the following data on your Mac only:

  • Audio recordings from meetings and voice notes
  • Transcripts and summaries generated from your recordings
  • Notes, attachments, and imported web content
  • Calendar event metadata (if you enable calendar integration)
  • App preferences and settings
  • On-device AI models downloaded for transcription and summarization

Data is stored in your Mac's Application Support directory. You can delete all Clipper data by removing the app and its associated files.

Network connections

Clipper is primarily offline, but makes limited network connections for specific features:

  • AI model downloads — when you download on-device models from Settings, Clipper fetches model files from Hugging Face. No personal data is sent.
  • URL import — when you import a web page, Clipper fetches the page content you specify. Imported content is stored locally.
  • Bug reports — if you choose to send a bug report via email, you control what information is included.

Clipper does not use analytics, telemetry, or tracking SDKs.

macOS permissions

Clipper requests the following macOS permissions, used only for their stated purpose:

  • Microphone — record audio during meetings and voice notes
  • Screen Recording — capture system audio from meeting apps (audio only, no screen video)
  • Speech Recognition — on-device transcription
  • Calendar — display upcoming events and improve meeting detection (optional)
  • Apple Events — detect active meeting tabs in supported browsers (optional)
  • Notifications — meeting detection alerts (optional)

You can revoke any permission at any time in System Settings.

OpenClaw integration

Clipper offers optional integration with OpenClaw, a local AI agent. When paired, Clipper shares only the note or meeting content you explicitly request through the integration. This communication happens locally via a Unix socket on your Mac.

OpenClaw is a separate application with its own privacy practices. We recommend reviewing OpenClaw's documentation before enabling the integration.

What we do not do

  • We do not upload your recordings, transcripts, or notes to any server
  • We do not use your data to train AI models
  • We do not sell or share your personal information
  • We do not require an account or sign-in
  • We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs

Children's privacy

Clipper is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
